Guest
Unfortunatly Myrtle died on Sunday which was sad but not totally unexpected as she had been ill for the past months. Anyhow that has left Ginger on her own so we are getting a chicken off one of my Mum's friends. I am worried about how I am going to seperate them as I only have the eglu. Maybe I could put the new chook in the run and let Ginger free range during the day but can I put them both together in the eglu at night or will they fight. Ginger can be quite forceful and I am not sure how quiet and timid the new chicken will be. I do have a cat carrier which I used to take Myrtle to the vets in maybe the new chicken could sleep in there in the conservatory? Any tips would be great, I am worrying Lara xx
moochoo
Someone, a while back made a divider with bamboo canes to separate the two. As it would be one on one you may have some luck with free ranging them together and letting them sleep together but keeping together run time to a minimum. Good luck! cordelia
my chicken slept in a Large cat carrier (inside our HUGE dog crate for a week) (DURING INTRODUCTIONS)....I put my spare plastic roosting bars inside on the floor, so that she would be comfortable....and she was fine.....it was only when the others went to sleep that she went in there.... (mine was at the height of summer last year, so the conservatory at night seems like a good compromise...as long as you have lots of newspaper down...and put her back in the run as soon as she wakes up ) best of luck
