shibby69
Hi all, i just wondered if anyone knows if it'd be ok to add a bit of water to my chicks' chick crumb to make it into a porridge? I'll provide dry alongside this too, but just wanted to make sure it couldn't hurt them to make a sort of chick crumb porridge for them once a week or something.. thanks in advance! Valkyrie
I don't think it hurts - they do that at the wildlife rescue centre for hatchlings and nestlings (although they are fed via a paintbrust direct into their big wide mouths and it has to be sloppy). I have added it to mine, but the chicks are with their mum and I don't make it too wet, just off-dry. They do rather like it, but I also have dry available for them too. They do tend to stomp on it and make a pancake anyway, so don't do too much otherwise it is wasted and if they are outside don't leave the wet mix out there too long because of flies. Mine have it for brekkers and are let out to range after lunch. Hope this helps.
