Electricbarbarella
Is there any way that she would be a good broody. She hasnt laid for months and sits on the other girls eggs, she would sit there all day, but when you remove them she stays there, she does however come out as soon as I open the door to free range. Is she really broody, if I left her some eggs would she continue to sit. I was thinking of putting her on her own with a couple of blank eggs for a couple of days to check she is broody and then trying to get her some eggs at the weekend. Also do they only sit for an exact lenght of time, ie would she give up before they were ready to hatch?
Electricbarbarella
right I have cleaned the eglu out and put her in on her own with a couple of eggs. will see how that goes. Are merrydale poultry good for hatching eggs, they seem to have lots of lovely bantams.
Snowy
I don't know about hatching and encouraging broodies, but I do know that Karen at Merrydale is very helpful and does have some lovely stock. Give her a ring!
