KarenW
Ok, daft questions alert I've ordered an eglu (and a convertor bit) and we were going to order an extra grub and a super glug, mainly so that if we went away for the weekend they would have enough food/water and I'm a worrier, so can't help thinking that if they *somehow* manage to knock either off the eglu then they'd be a bit stuck Anyhow, when I rang Omlet, the lady said that the super glug didn't fit on the eglu, so I went for an extra normal glug and grub. But, I'm sure I've seen that other people have a super glug with the eglu? Or am I making that up? If so, I think I would change my order. The other thing is, is it actually useful to have a second glug/grub on the eglu at all, because from looking at pictures I can't see how I'd fill them up as they'd be too far down the run? Am probably just being a bit thick, but would appreciate any tips - I've still got time to change my order so would rather get it right first time Thanks Karen
Falkor
You can hang the superglug above the Eglu run door I had extra grubs in the run but you do need to be able to reach in a far way to get at them......I always took my garden kneeler with me when i did food refills. Also with two or three hens and two grubs they won`t need filling up too often, I always cleaned and refilled the grubs on clean out saturday when I was wearing my "chicken fleece and jeans" hope this helps. Olly
The superglug is designed to be hung up high, as the chooks drink from the bottom of it - so I think the only place you can hang it is over the run door. I usually fill my glug up with a little houseplant watering-can, the spout fits through the mesh on the run and it saves reaching in to take it out every time, although I do take it out and scrub it when I clean the Cube. You might have to put the glugs either side of the run door, I have seen people reach through the Eglu door (with the lid off, of course!) and put them at that end of the run. Looks like a lot of work to me! Em is right though - two or three hens should be ok for a weekend with a single Glug and Grub, however no harm in doubling up with the grub if you are worried about it. KarenW
Thanks guys. Hmm, I think I'll discuss with dh and see if he thinks we should change the order and get the super glug. I know we'll feel happier leaving them for a couple of days with extra water and if they are ok above the door than that would actually make it easier to get at anyway I reckon. Need to add some plastic roosting bars to the order too and I want to change the food we've ordered. Am fairly confident on the we chose though...I think... Jules.
I have a superglug in my eglu run I think Omlet should design a smaller superglug especailly for the eglu
KarenW
Yay, I take it you have it above the door too? 32 days to go, addicted to reading about chickens and dh shooing me off to bed....
debbier
Need to add some plastic roosting bars to the order too and I want to change the food we've ordered. I wanted these, too, but was advised that the eglus come with them as standard now. (ordered mine 18 may)
KarenW
I wanted these, too, but was advised that the eglus come with them as standard now. (ordered mine 18 may) Brill, thanks for that! I rang up to check, and mine is definitely coming with plastic ones too So that's £15 saved...which rather pales into insignificance compared with the £500+ I've spent, but hey ho
