Could Barbara be in the menopause?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Barbara has not laid an egg in 3 weeks. She was laying nearly every day until then. She is an omlet gingernut ranger and we had her April last year, I think she is about 15 mths old. I have done the usual checks lice, mites, worms. She has been treated with xeno 200 and flubenvet, red mite powder. She has a diet of layers pellets and small amount of tuna in her pellet porridge and has a small amount of spaghetti at tea time. She is very perky and seems healthy.

Could she be in the menopause so her egg laying days are over? She seems a bit young for this however i cannot think of anything else :wall:

Any suggestions :?:

Thanks

She could be....but it seems a little on the young side to me. :D

Have you checked around the garden to see if she is laying a secret cache of eggs under a shrub?

If not, I'd confine her to her run for a couple of days with nothing but layers pellets and water. It might make a difference.

mmm, she does sound young. My old gal Ella is 3 and stopped laying at Christmas. My Maran who is 2 years is still laying although only about twice a week. She might be slowing down or having a mini break?...... She sounds healthy and fine so I wouldn't worry too much.
