Ness3103
just rung the breeder to make an appointment to collect my girls and it's highly unlikely i can have an amber star she's going to collect them but has been told they're on the small side, so the likelyhood of bullying is high my original plan was to have an amber star, an isa warren, a bovan nera and a speckeldy, now i need to decide wether to have another isa or a spekeldy. i can't decide the good news is i'm picking them up on friday morning i'm soooo excited
quickcluck
Ohhhhhhhh how disappointing. But you have to go with what they say Where are you getting them from? Is there another breeder near by that you could get an amber from on the same day or on saturday?
Ness3103
i'm getting them from southmead poultry. i hadn't thought about getting one from somewhere else, just thought it would be better to get them all from the same place. i also have to think about the travel time, it's about an hour to southmead from me and i've just checked out golden valley, which is 48 mins from southmead, then over an hour back to my house, i think that would be too long for the chickens and the children i think i'll stick with southmead and when i increase my flock i'll get my amber star then. redranger
We got our chickens from Southmead - Tracey is very good and knows what she's talking about, so I would give her the benefit of the doubt. Has she got any red rangers? They are beautiful and very friendly birds
Ness3103
tracey was really helpful which is why i'm going to stick with her. she says i can decide on the day, but if she thinks they're too small she won't be picking them up. as i'm a first time hen mum i'm going to take her advice. it's just disappointing because it was the amber star that i really wanted. but i do have room in my new wir for two eglu's so i'm happy to wait her red rangers are all sold but i know i'll be happy with whatever i end up with, in fact i'll probably fall in love with all of them

Maybe even a or layer instead??? Either way have fun, it's very exciting. Do you have any names thought about or will you wait till you see them? Ness3103
i haven't had much luck as i originally wanted an amber star and a skyline but the skyline were all sold, then i thought a cream legbar but didn't realise they were sold as day old chicks, (which i wouldn't have a clue what to do with ) names were picked ages ago the isa brown is scarlet, the bovan nera is ebony, the speckledy is skye, the amber star would've been angel but i'll see what i get before deciding on the name just wish tomorrow would hurry up now but i have a very busy day ahead of me, trying to get the wir finished so i'm sure the time will fly by
