freespiritbutterfly
Over the weekend i brought 3 new chickens from a local farm. They are very shy and run frantically everytime you some much as look at them but i'm putting this down to them been young (the lady said there around 14 -16 weeks). I've just been outside to them as i'm slowly mixing them in with Autumn and Florence, to try and bond with them and i managed to pick each of the newbies up and check them over but ive noticed that 2 out of the 3 have runny noses? Ive read on the poultry health bit of the fourum that a vet may be needed but how long do I wait, if i wait because ive also been told it could be because of the move. Should i wait and see? They are eating and drinking ok? They arrived on sunday what do you all think? Thanks in advance Em x
katieadams
One of ours had a runny nose when we got her, and we put some Citradel in the water and it cleared up in a few days I think the general feeling is try that and keep listening to the breathing, if it gets bubbly or raspy then it's vet time - am I right everyone? The Dogmother
Citricidal is good, but if you've just got them then the breeder/supplier needs to know as there could be something going round their flock. If any vet treatment is needed, then the supplier ought to offer to pay for it.
