freckles
Well, the dunking didn't work, nor did sitting an ice pack/ice cubes so have imprisoned Bella the broody in a broody cage (of sorts). It's adapted from one of those things that lies around the garden that you know will be useful some day, and that day has just arrived! Feel a bit sorry for her actually, but since she isn't even laying and we are expecting 6 new hens next week I have had to get tough! Egluntyne
Necessity is the mother of invention! Has she got food and water?
freckles
Yes, I took the food and water down after I had imprisoned her, so it's not in the pic. Is there any way of telling that she is ready to come out again? Was thinking I'd keep her in til Saturday anyway...
Ain't Nobody Here
Very inventive . The first couple of times I left Molly in her broody cage night and day for 3 days. That did the trick. The last time she was in for one day and I popped her in the eglu at night. The next morning she didn't show any broody signs so she was released . freckles
Sound promising! Am leaving her in tonight and will see how she is tomorrow. It's amazing, you can actually almost see the air cooling her down and she's hardly sat down all day. Fingers crossed!
Mrs Kettle
Nothing will snap her out of being broody like the arrival of more chickens! Lily was broody for weeeeeeks last year. Then Glory and Angel arrived and she was too busy explaining the pecking order to remember that she'd planned to spend the day in the nest box. Chucky Mama
My greedy chicken Monica is broody at the moment but she is sooooo greedy that she can't sit around too long! The sight of food is just too much - some mother she'd make! - actually thinking about it, she reminds me of me
