quickcluck
One of the babies has decided to sleep with the big girls in the cube but for the 3rd night running Molly is still going into the eglu on her own We have put her in the cube again with the others as I dont like to leave her alone. Also princess is the older of the 2 babies and she is almost one of the girls now Molly is stilla bit of a loner and escapes to her perch ALOT..... She looks a few weeks younger than princess who's tackle is bright red and appetite is now huge so eggies soon Should we just continue to put molly in until she does it on her own?? thanks guys... Ygerna
I would keep popping her in, for about a week to ten days. If she hasnt got the hang og it by then, I would probably shut the eglu door before bedtime. Thats only going by my girls, and my short experience with Chickens and hopefully someone with better knowledge will be along to help soon. Falkor
We had exactly the same thing with our newbies. Snowball decided she wanted to move into the cube with the big girls and Fizz kept going back to the eglu. Like Ygerna said.....I kept popping Fizz into the cube nestbox after she had gone to roost in the eglu and after six nights she got the hang of it and went into the cube of her own accord. Day 7 - she returned to the eglu so on Day 8 I made sure I had shut the eglu door and she went into the cube. Fizz is still a bit of an outsider three months on......the other three are quite happy to all go into the nestbox and lay together and I can herd them up and walk them back to the run but Fizz is still skittish and is oftern on her own in the garden shrieking as she goes! I think this is an excuse for more chooks! I don`t want Fizz to be lonely do I!?
