Liquid Poo / Diahorea - help required please

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My chicken seems to be having a bad case of diahorea, her poop is very liquidy and around her bum there is a lot of mess.

What could this be?

She seems to be eating ok but doesnt seem to be laying.

There is another chicken in the house who is fine.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hi, she could be going through the same thing that my hen is. She started off with very watery pooh (resulting in a dirty bum) and was eating fine at the time. Click on link below to read the full story.

She had just been wormed with Flubenvet a week before. Speaking of which, is it me or does there seem to be some weird connection with Flubenvet and some hens becoming poorly? I've noticed a few postings on here now where hens have become ill after having this. Maybe it's just coincidence...or my overactive imagination!

Hope your hen improves.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. No she hasnt been wormed.

Sorry, what is worming? How is carried out?

In depth article on worming **here**. :D

Flubenvet is a safe wormer and is licensed for use on poultry and has no egg withdrawal period (you don't have to stop eating them). :D

Thanks for the worming solution.

I should also point out, her runs is almost like wee. She also stopped laying over a month ago. When she does lay its once in a while. I'm perplexed as she is eating ok, so what goes in must come out.

The other girl is fine, eats ok is laying eggs ok.

It does sound as though she probably has worms Zahirb. As she loses condition so her body can't use any resources to lay eggs - she's using the resources to feed the infestation inside her.

I would give them both a seven day course of Flubenvet and see if that cures things for her.
