TOMWARDFARM
Ok my girls are varying ages but all similar hybrid sizes, I had 10 chooks last year and got through 1 bag of feed a month, now we seem to be getting through 3 times that! I know it is summer and they are all in full lay now so inevitably they will eat more. I cant help feeling we may be Losing some feed to 'Visitors of the night' So what I plan on doing rather than leaving the pellets out 24/7 I will weigh their recommended (plus a bit extra) and give this to them in the morning and then all the usual treats at afternoon evening time. What is the recommeded qty for chicks per day? I am sure someone knows!!! Kind Regards Christian
Egluntyne
120g. I get through a 20kg sack every 10 days.....or at least my girls do. I bought a treadle operated feeder, and it did make a difference, as we were having nocturnal visitors too. Cost me forty quid though. TOMWARDFARM
They are free ranging but I think I got gannets instead of chickens!! 120g per hen per day, so 1.2kgs for 10 hens so my sack should begin to last me 16.7 day approximatley!!! mmm better than 10 days, but if I take into account the extra hens I have at the moment and the ducks maybe I don't have visitors of the night.... i don't know now ... Thank you.
GEB
My girls get through a sac in about 5 weeks, and I only have three of them. The amount of food you're getting through doesn't sound excessive to me.
