fluffyknickers
My chickens were doing fantastically each laying one egg a day without fail and eating and doing well. Then all in one week I notice their bellies dont seem to be as fluffy, one wont get out the nest box (she out now), only got one egg today, goo in the nest box and then i pick them up today and underneath the two feels all crusty. Picked them up and they have mud caked on their soft feathers on their bellies (fluffy behinds still ok). I assume its from all the wet weather and their digging around. So how do clean it without causing distress, making them cold, getting them too wet. I thought I had it all sussed with my girls and have had a rotten week. x
cluckbok
How about a nice warm bath in a washing up bowl? I've done it before with Rosie when she got muddy feet, gave her a little soak in the water then it all came off. Was funny when she walked off though, she had wet knickers and was walking with her legs wide apart
cluckbok
You may find that they enjoy it, Rosie does!
chick wiggle
One of my light sussex had a very dirty bottom so I washed her on my knee with warm water and a sponge, and then i dried her with my hairdryer! She just sat there and never moved bless her. Next time though I will use some ecover in the water, didnt know that i could use that at the time. quickcluck
Dont panic!!!!!!!!!! I agree. Give them a warm gentle bath either with water or baby shampoo, I am sure they'll be fluffed up in no time
