Charlottechicken
OK, I haven't posted any pics for three weeks as there haven't been any noticible changes in their growth other than they are larger! So here they are, sunbathing and generally chilling on the grass Here's another, as you can see they are in the Eglu run, with the open end filled in with wire. They love it and think that's pretty much how big the world is The two cuckoo Marans looking ones are males. The darker of the two is the head boy, he's the crower and has been for several weeks now. I am having second thoughts about the gingery brown one. It took control of all the chicks early on, only to relinquish control when the Marans boy started crowing. Now it has adopted a female stance, tail constantly down (as you can see in both pics), no main tail feather to speak of, and potters around not squaring up to any of the others. My mum is convinced it is a female and today, Marans boy tried to mount it So the jury is out The dark female is lovely, she has feathered legs and a black coat of feathers with brownish tinges to the ends, black tiny comb, black beak and black legs. I now think she may have French copper black Marans in her Lola is still petite compared to the other four, but as I now think they are all at least half Marans, no wonder. She is still to scale with the others so I am not too concerned. However, she appears to be vegetarian As previously, any thoughts on parentage or sex are most welcome By the way, the large hens are in a little run on the end of the chick run, to get them all used to each other, and they are visible in the bottom pic. Charlottechicken
They have really grown.. what handsome boys! And girls!! I am really puzzled by the gingery brown one. It appears to be developing a collar of black feathers, as well as iridiscent green tail feathers, and has very yellow legs. Any ideas anyone?
