Wanted: omlet eglu classic + run 🙏

Hello, I have an eglu and love it. We are looking at WIRs though. How many chickens could we have in one eglu if we had a huge WIR?

 

Hoping someone can help and we wont be looking at doing this till next year probably but just out of interest really? x

You should only really have 4 hens to one nestbox. They seem happy to cuddle up together to sleep though, so if you provide another nestbox you can probably fit more in.

 

Someone has used a cat basket or pet carrier as an extra nestbox, I think .

those covered in cat litter boxes are pretty good nest boxes

I agree...

I KNOW more will easily fit for snuggle up sleeping, I worry about the lack of space when they wake up early

I don't fancy an omlet door closer but sure wish the would make an automatic opener specially for these light mornings!

I had five hybrids in an eglu which was the max I would advise. However when I got another eglu and more hens they all piled in together and 10 hens slept together leaving the new eglu empty next to it.
