lounut
hello, does anyone know why a hen would suddenly start mounting others as if she is a cockerel??? she is the lowest in the pecking order too which is why im suddenly surprised to see her doing this. x x x x x x x x
tidygirlsuk
I have read about this sort of behaviour before. It stated that this can happen with no cockerel present.
Jules.
My Buzz does this. She only started to do so after her first moult this winter. If I catch her at it I try to go & press her down like a cockerel would, but most of the time I leave her to it. It does look strange, but as long as my other hens don't come to any harm then there's not much for me to do about it.
Egluntyne
It is all to do with establishing dominance and isn't that unusual.
