Jo+Paul
Hi all! Got two pepperpots about a month ago called Nick and Margaret - one of them laid an egg on the way home from Omlet HQ. Brilliant pets, we love them very much. Any tips on handling and soft shell eggs appreciated - got our first soft shell today so not sure if we should be worried or not. Egluntyne
Probably nothing to worry about. They often have a bit of a blip in the early days of laying. it might be an idea to cut right back on treats and limit any free ranging to the afternoon to make sure that they fill up on pellets before they eat anything else. If it continues, you could give a calcium supplement.
-sarahjayne
Handling them is difficult at first - I only got my first chooks 6 days ago.. But once you get them used to it its fine. I started by stroking their backs and now i can pick them up with no fuss and they love a cuddle. With the egg it was probably just the change of scenery which unsettled them a bit. I love the names by the way
