Bunnyish
I have 3 ex battery hens, i have had them for about 5 weeks now. They had nearly no feathers on their necks and backs when i got them but they are slowing growing back and they looking alot better. i was wondering how long it would take for them to grow all their feathers back? Lindsey has no feathers on her bottom and it is very very red.
-sarahjayne
Sorry I don't know how long the feathers will take to grow back as I have no experience with ex batts, but as long as they get their vitamins etc they should grow back in no time. You should probably put some purple spray or something similar onto her sore patch to keep the others away causing anymore damage and to help it recover. time is the best healer. Lydia
It really depends on the individual hen and some feather up quicker than others. Mooney, Trilby and Shiraz arrived last September and Trilby still hasn't got any fluffy knickers on but is now sporting 2 tail feathers. By contrast, Mooney was in much worse condition but feathered up fully in about 10-12 weeks. Shiraz was similar. You can try adding things like organic cat food or rinsed tuna fish to their diet to promote feather growth but as long as they are healthy and perky I wouldn't worry too much.
