I picked up a copy of the book at the library today as it looked amusing.

 

I'm a bit of a sucker for memoirs/autobiogs. I've just finished "The Funny Farm" and "Sheepwrecked" by Jacqui Moffat, both very interesting and engaging. Anyone hankering after a smallholding/small farm should read them

 

I also really enjoyed "Allotted Time" about a cple of guys who took on allotment with no prior knowledge or experience.

 

Anyone know of anything smilar, for when I've finished my current book?

It's about gardening and such things I think, Dad picked it up at the weekend for me and mum to read, we have a little book club of our own

 

I like the look of "The Egg and I" may have to raid my piggy bank once again

I've got an ancient copy of 'The Egg and I' - read it long before I got chickens, in fact it would probably put you off ever getting any!

 

It's a very funny book, but some of her views which were probably commonly held back then are a bit non-PC these days. Don't be put off the book, it's a good read.

Gosh yes...I read that years ago...I'd forgotten all about it. I seem to remember it was very amusing, and also by the same author- a book about her experiences in a sanatorium when she had TB.....no seriously!...but she even managed to make that amusing too...I think I might have to see if I can find them on my ancient dad's bookshelf!!!
