JM
Last Sunday night, I carefully measured out pellets and put the measure of Flubenvet in, and mixed it all around - intending it to last all week (well it did last time). However, by last evening, they had eaten almost all of the feed, but I noticed that there was a fair amount of powder left in the bottom of the grub (could be from the pellets, could be from the Flubenvet). So this morning, I decanted it all into a plastic bag, plus extra pellets in, added a bit of olive oil and mixed it all around so the powder stuck to the pellets and put it back in the grub in the run. I've just been down to see them and they had scoffed the lot!! So - they've had the week long dose of Flubenvet in half a week - does that mean that they've had a double dose so far, and does that mean that I shouldn't eat the eggs?? Hmmm? Any ideas/suggestions?? Thanks Jill I've obviously got greedy chickens as well as a greedy labrador...
Egluntyne
If you coat the pellets very lightly with codliver oil, the powder will adhere much more readily.
JM
Thanks - I'll do that next time - it never even occurred to me! But the olive oil worked OK this time(it was all I had handy this morning worked OK and I didn't use too much) It's all gone now (pellets and powder) - so I was worried whether I should throw the eggs away as they have had the entire week's dose in half a week... Egluntyne
Hmmmm....... I wouldn't bother myself, but if you are selling the eggs, or giving them to children or anyone with a weakened constitution, it might be a wise precaution to withdraw them for a week.
