Auto door randomly closing during the day

Since I built my walk in run and the chickens aren't free ranging all day anymore, I've noticed their eggs are a lot more uniform in size and colour...

 

When they were roaming (and trashing) my garden for hours on end some of the eggs were hard but wrinkled.

 

Is this a co-incidence or does a walk in run make a difference?

Mine free range all day and the eggs are perfectly smooth. Maybe their diet has changed somehow?

Nope, same brand of layers pellets.

 

Perhaps they were eating something strange in the garden.
