sandyhas3chucks
Disabled but slightly more mobile now. She does pant a lot, even when with her friends who aren't. Other than hot, any other reasons? seems well, eating etc. though not laid in 3 days now. (not a daily girl anyway!) does not feel large or hot under there, can feel nothing hard or egg shaped !(no experience in that bit though either!) She doesn't stand easily... so cannot cool like the others do by standing and doing their Dynasty impressions
Egluntyne
The fact that she can't stand up to cool herself os probably hwhy she is panting. She will be losing heat that way.
sandyhas3chucks
thanks "E" I thought so, but didn't want to be complacent and no ask and then miss something. I had her on my lap.(well sort of suporting her weight with 4 fingers so she could stand and have her wings open and be in the breeze under a tree, she seemed to like thsis for a wee while then got fidgetty... bless her... she looked so sweet trying to jab my eye then my teeth. (just seeing if edible )
ubereglu
I think it's just because she's hot. Spice was doing this earlier today, probably aided by the fact she was chased. Then she just sat down and had a little pant.
pullusleggus
I have been wondering if panting could be a sign of stress. My new chickens were panting for a while after arrival and certainly looked stressed and watchful. Plus owls pant when stressed.
ubereglu
Not sure, I think they can do it in both situations, and it might just have been that they were thirsty after their trip.
