ex batt off colour

Recommended Posts

Hi All, I am concerned about one of my girls, I picked her up yesterday as she has two punctures on her bare neck/chest, I sprayed her with purple spray but when I was holding her liquid ran down my arm, not sticky but warm, today she did not eat her porridge which she loves and went on her own away from the others.

Any idea what the liquid was I am off to check the nest box to see if she has laid an egg or anything as she did go into the box twice but came out and box empty.

Help please

Hello Legend,

I can't really advise as I'm not clued up enough but I do know soft shelled eggs can make them feel pretty rotten for a while.

I hope she picks up..... this heat is enough to make them feel miserable in itself.

Fingers crossed for her.

The soft egg will explain why she was looking a bit miserable.

It could be due to the recent heatwave which can do odd things to the eggs as the heat stress interferes with calcium metabolism.

I would make sure she has plenty of fresh water available, and perhaps a calcium supplement.

Dear all, I have brought her in and put her in the cat box with bedding, some corn and water, she was just lying outside sleeping and I thought it better to bring her in, and thought about letting her back in the run with the rest tomorrow.

Typical I have to drive to Manchester tonight and wont be back until tomorrow afternoon.

Should I have left her outside?
