Sal119
Is it normal for chickens to eat frogs??? One of mine caught and swallowed a frog (whole I think) before putting herself to bed. She seemed a little less lively afterwards, standing still for a change!, but apart from that is fine! Bit worried as it wasn't a small frog! Ain't Nobody Here
There have been quite a few posts since I've been on the forum about chickens eating frogs, so I wouldn't worry too much .
Sal119
Thanks, just seemed a bloomin big thing for a chicken to be eating! Ain't Nobody Here
I know . I can't imagine how they can swallow one, let alone digest it .
Chickvic
Mine have been known to do this I'm assuming she was stood still to 'aid' the digestion - the frogs are huge comparitively and it was probably a bit uncomfortable. But it won't stop them!
Hen Watch
Mine love frogs, in fact it is like a scene from a horror movie when they get a big one and chase each other around the garden dismembering it's limbs.......
Chucky Mama
oh no There was a frog in our garden this morning sitting quite close to the girls. I had a devil on my shoulder telling me to say and watch what might happen but thankfully the angel on my other shoulder made me beat a hasty retreat indoors
Sal119
Well, since my first post on this, my chicks have swallowed a few more frogs and don't seem any worse for it! Until we had chickens I didn't realise our garden must be full of them. They seem to dig one up wherever they scratch about! Talk about fight as well! If one gets hold of a frog, the other one goes into a mad squawking session, then they proceed to chase eachother round the garden having a s"Ooops, word censored!"! Must be tasty!? So if anyone else is worried about their chicks munching on frogs, don't be, it seems to be the norm!
