Solar Predator Protection

Recommended Posts

An article in the latest issue of Practical Poultry caught my eye.

Effective against all sorts of critters, including bear, raccoon and mountain lion!! (Not many of those in these parts. Maybe it DOES work).

For predators like fox, coyote, bobcat, wild boar, mountain lion and bear; put the lights approximately 100 feet apart around your entire perimeter (all four sides of the area) and place them eye level to the predators which is approximately 20-25 inches off the ground. If the area has sides longer than 100 feet, more lights should be used on each side. Face lights outward from protected area.

MORE INFO HERE

It's solar-powered and costs £16.00. Might be worth a punt...

I noticed that in Practical Poultry yesterday, meant to look it up. It's a lot cheaper than Foxwatch, it wouldn't work for me because it might scare the cat off, but for some Forum members that would be a distinct advantage, I know!

May be worth getting to keep the neighbour's blasted cat away from the bird table, she tends to turn tail quite rapidly when the chooks start to create blue murder (probably preservation of eardrums  !!!) or the dogs come out into the back garden, but the front garden where the other creatures can't go is another matter!

I wonder if the bees will stop her frequenting Cafe Wild.............. !
