Black Fly - Rah!

Recommended Posts

I seem to be over-run with black fly this year! They all over my pot marrigolds, my tomato plants and my courgettes. What can i use that is safe for when we want to eat our tomatoes and courgettes, but will get rid of the blighters. I have a lacewing and ladybird house already (I assume they eat black fly as well as green fly) and have osteospurnums and ox eye daisies to attract hover flies but i guess they just can't cope!

I've heard nettle spray can kill them, as well as feeding my plants, but i don't know how to make it. Anyone got any ideas?

It's the weather I think - they've been all over my runner beans. :(

I spray mine with soapy water (Ecover washing-up liquid) but you can do it with just water, in a spray bottle - I rub my fingers over the leaves and stems to remove them, but the soapy water helps to loosen their grip.
