unreciprocated love

Recommended Posts

Arnie, our bengal cat, big fearless, has taken to sleeping in the eglu when chooks are out free ranging, luckily found him first cos think he is in danger of being pecked to death. unfortunately had him done very young and other cats round find him easy to torment, dog ignores him and he seems to find solice with the chickens. In real danger of shutting him in for the night with the girls and really don't fancy his chances. Any advice would be appreciated!

Could you get him a feline mate - probably a moggie. its horrible when they are bullied by other cats - my ginger cat is bullied by the thuggish cats who come into the garden. would the hens really peck him? or would they see him as a nice warm bed to snuggle up to ?

I know this will sound really wierd, but I've never been famous for conventional....

I can't remember what chickens think about the smell of citrus fruit , so it might be worth a quick test. However, on the assumption they're not bothered by it, perhaps you could put a little lemon zest (i.e. make use of any leftover lemon rinds you end up with in the course of your cooking) into the droppings trays; if your mog's anything like all the ones I've known, he'll absolutely hate the smell and keep out.
