Janty
I collect the quail eggs each evening as mine lay late in the day. Yesterday I collected 5 eggs from the five ladies. Tonight there were 9 eggs. I know they bury them, etc. but these were mostly in the little wicker basket with two on top of the aubiouse.
Willow
Amazingly productive aren't they There's been days when I was sure I was getting more eggs than I have females but I assumed I was just losing track and had missed a day collecting eggs or something
Lesley
We sometimes wonder if we're going mad as well I was speaking to someone with a 'foodie' shop who used to keep quail for eggs - I mentioned that they sometimes lay 2 eggs a day and she looked at me as if I was mad!! Perhaps people don't notice when they have lots of quail - you certainly do when you only have a few. I cooked soft boiled quail eggs for all 5 of us who were here yesterday Last year we were so overrun with eggs that I had to give some away - and they stopped laying abruptly.....the moment I'd forced the last 12 on a poor unsuspecting visitor
