urbanchick
I have noticed half a dozen or so whitish lumps on my Miss Pepperpot's comb and wattles. They look like blisters but seem quite solid. The biggest one is on her wattle, shown in this pic: http://www.smugmug.com/photos/603232396_8fDRd-L.jpg Any ideas? She doesn't have any other symptoms

Mattaz
Interesting.. Your right it does look like blisters. Im not sure but it could be an early symptom of Fowl-Pox, A Virus-Related disease spread by Biting insects. When a Chicken gets Fowl-Pox They tend to get whitish lumps on their wattles and comb. As i Say, it is just 1 symptom. Another Symptom is drop in egg production. If your chicken does have fowl pox, its the dry version which is not as bad as the wet version. Ive Red that any chicken suffering from this nasty virus will soon recover within weeks. Hope this has helped.
Egluntyne
One of my late lamented girls, Nugget, had Fowl pox. (So did a couple of the others I suspect, but they had very little in the way of blemishes)The marks looked nothing like that. I wonder of your girl has been stung. urbanchick
I don't think she's been stung. They are not watery inflamed blisters, more like solid, pearly white plaques and they there are a few of them, it's just that one is very large (can you see the 2 at the front of the comb, on the edge?). I am inclined to agree with Mattaz and think fowl pox having looked at other pics on the web, but only if they go on to crust and scab over. Time will tell I guess..... urbanchick
Thanks for the pics. Nothing like that so far on my chicken, so I'll wait to see if anything develops.
