johncunningham01
Hi Everyone Have had my girls for 9 days now. The first two days Dorothy gave me a white egg each day. She has since only produced them every other day. Is this normal? I appreciate that she is still very young (around 18-20 weeks old) and am probably fussing about nothing, but just want to be sure! On a different note Henrietta has now started to lay and has given me eggs for the last three days! The first two were quite small, but today she has produced what I would describe as a full sized egg!! Can't explain the excitement of opening up the housing unit and finding eggs there! Of course there is always the disappointment when there aren't any!!!! John
Space Chick
It takes them a while to get into laying, and some girls will have rests. I have 3 girls that have started laying, and typically get 2 eggs per day. Sometimes 3, sometimes only 1. Hope this helps, and the excitement of opening the egg port and seeing and egg hasn't left me yet
Olly
Yep, agree with Debs above - this is normal when they're starting to lay, so no need to worry. I don't think I will ever get over the thrill of finding eggs in the nesting-box, no matter how long I keep chickens. There's something really wonderful about it!
