Eggy-Bread
New chooks coming soon I have read the threads on introducing new chooks to old but have some questions about the set up I'm proposing. Would this work or can anyone see any glaring errors or omissions I've made: We intend to put the Eglu and its run inside the walk-in run. Matilda will then go inside this then she'll have access to the pop-hole to lay. The new (point-of-lay) girls will then have the WIR to wander round in whilst making their introductions to 'Tilda. I hope to put them all in together at night. How does this sound?
Staffordmum
Sounds fine to me tho' am sure more experienced fellow Omleteers will have lots of extras "tips and wrinkles" Good luck with your introductions - fun isn't it? chickencam
That sounds sensible, they can get used to each other during the day and they usually behave at night.
Falkor
It does sound like a good plan although I would be inclined to have another "house" on standby incase all does not go to plan. I have used a cat basket in the past or you could use a dog crate. If it is within your WIR and you are happy that it is predator proof then should be fine. Good Luck! and what breed of chook are coming!?
Eggy-Bread
I have got a cat basket that I can have on standy-by - thanks for the tip. We have a couple of Black Rhodes coming - they are a Rhode Island Red x Plymouth Barred Rock - look very much like Miss Pepperpots. Can't wait now names
