4m x 3m Omlet pen, cube, new auto door still boxed and coop light

Hi

 

I have put down a base of slabs to put the cube and run on when it arrives in a couple of weeks and have fenced off an area of the garden around it that the chickens will be let out into for a bit of freedom. At the moment there is slate on some of the area surrounding the run but I was wondering if I should change it to gravel as the slate is quite sharp on the edges. Not sure that they would like digging in it, also would it damage their feet.

I have a slate path with lime stone gravel under the slate the girls love digging in it they flick it everyware not fun if you're in range at the time for little critters they don't half put some forge behind it
