Diana1
Had no eggs for ages on account of broodiness of my two hens. Now that the broodyness has stopped they have decided to moult big time. There are feathers everywhere. Previous moults haven't been so noticeable because I think they ate the feathers. anyway just checking that moulting is usual this time of year really and that they are not ill. Their appetite is down as they are not laying of course. How long does moulting last?
Egluntyne
It can last a few weeks. They will start producing spikey quills after a bit of a rest. Giving them extra protein can help them feather up a bit quicker. Meal worms, chick crumbs etc.
Diana1
Thanks. I am already giving them meal worms so that makes me feel that I am doing a good job of looking after them. The Layers Pellets don't seem to be going down that much and the tins of sweetcorn sometimes get left
