Does anyone have or can they recommend a recipe for the above pickle. I used to have a recipe of my Aunt's but unfortunately she is long gone and I can't find the recipe anywhere.

 

I would be very grateful, I really fancy some this year and hopefully I should have a few cucumbers going spare.

Never tried it so far, but how about this? Apparently it can be made with courgettes too, which is a definite added bonus.

Just wanted to post a "thanks" for mentioning this pickle. I cooked some up yesterday and it does indeed taste great (even though I say so myself )

I've made some now. I can't wait to try some with a nice chunk of mature English cheddar.

I think I might be making quite a lot more by the amount of cucumbers I've got coming on in the greenhouse.

Ive just started this, but the courgette im using is "tough as old boots", admitedly its been hanging around in the kitchen for quite some time, but I dont know if I should use it (its about 18inches long )

 

should I use it?

should I peel it?

should I just bin it and then go and pick another mammoth one from the courgette tree in the lotment?

 

should I give in an not make it at all?

Use it? Yes.

Peel it? No.

Bin it? No.

 

Just slice it as thin as possible and I reckon you'll be fine. I actually used some "courgettes" that were a similar kind of size, and had to quarter them lengthwise to allow me to chuck it down the chute of my Kenwood for slicing. Worked fine, though.

Thank you posting this recipe, and also the link to a wonderful blog site! I love reading things like that. And the aga on the front page just makes me want to sit in front of it, especially on a miserable day like it is right now.
