vikpow Posted August 16, 2009 Share Posted August 16, 2009 Hi all, My youngest and smallest girl Poppy has been laying nearly every day for the last month or so but lately the eggs she has been laying are huge and most are double yolkers. Problem is yesterday we let her out at 7am, but she stayed in the nestbox for 4 hours, then laid another huge egg. This morning we did the same and she has still not come out of the nest to have any food or water. Do you think this is normal or something to worry about? Plum Posted August 16, 2009 Share Posted August 16, 2009 Sounds like she is out for some kind of record. As long as an egg is the result I wouldn't worry. vikpow Posted August 17, 2009 Author Share Posted August 17, 2009 thanks for your reply she laid a small egg yesterday and a small one today but she's been in the nestbox all afternoon again! when i went to see her se fluffed up her feathers and went to peck me! i took her put to have some fpd but she went straight back in the nestbox. I really don't know if she could be broody, I wouldn't have thought so probably thinking about laying another egg if she normally does double yolkers, I suppose she is ovulating twice.
