quickcluck
It was all of a sudden, she became very withdrawn, tail down, like a statue. then she went to the water and drank nonstop for 15mins or so. then laid a softie there and then, mostly water which the other ran off with Have manage to pick her up which is impossible usually unless roosting of a night time. OH tipped her forward and all the water poured out Her crop is massive and feels like a water balloon. Her comb is floppy and sudden very dark blue ( I know this is not a good sign) We also have a coughing problem at the moment which I am waiting for the vets to get baytril in on wednesday to treat the whole flock. Do you think they are connected. Thanks K
Plum
I don't know if it helps but my girl who lays softies often drinks a lot then some pours out if she jumps on her perch. I suppose her crop would feel like a balloon if she drank so much. A while ago when she was laying softies her comb turned blue and after laying a few more she was back to normal, so take heart it is reversible. She laid 8 softies in 2 days once. I believe that problems with laying tackle can follow on from respiratory infection but thought it was in young chickens. Hope she picks up and someone with experience answers. x
quickcluck
Thanks Plum, I can't believe I've become so neurotic and dramatic! Princess has a terrible cough, but cant get Baytril until wednesday Also Polly a baby orp is coughing with a very runny nose! They are having citracidal and life guard, I just hope they can stay well until wednesday. Might ring round a couple of other vets to see if they have some! Redwing
I'd say the problem is unconnected to the colds, the symptoms seem so different, can you get Penny in to the vet at all? I'm sorry that she is ill
quickcluck
Hi Red, I will try and get her to one tomorrow first thing. I rang one to see if they had baytril in stock to save a wasted journey, but they wouldn't look! Sometimes I look too hard, as I'm paranoid about mycro now as i've been reading books and forums But dont think they have the right symptoms only coughing and one runny nose!
