Sara-W
Not sure if this should be in the chicken clinic or if it is indeed a problem! Mildred keeps going to sleep! She is eating, drinking, running around, acting normally and next minute has her eyes closed -sleeping I presume. She does it while standing in the middle of the lawn, under the hedge, whilst dustbathing, yesterday as I washed and blowdried her behind (it was a bit dirty but poos are normal) and ALL the time! Just now she was outside the henhouse sleeping I thought that she was ill at first so I went to pick her up she ran off and then went to bed as normal! Its very strange I don't know if I should be worried or not
CluckyBucks
It sounds unusual, but im afraid i cannot say whether it is something to be worried about or not I would wait for one of the more experienced chicken owners to come on, how long has she been doing this for?? xx xx
Sara-W
She has always done it but I'm not sure if she's doing it more or if I'm just taking more notice of it. It reminds me of the condition humans have (sorry not sure of correct name)when they just fall asleep, then wake up and carry on normally Its very odd
Ain't Nobody Here
Is it narcolepsy? One of mine used to do that but it only lasted a few weeks when she was young. If she has been wormed and doesn't have any beasties I don't know what else to suggest .
Sara-W
She was wormed with flubenvet 2 weeks ago and has been checked for lice/mites but has neither I just don't know what it could be
