PhilipCaldwell
hello, got my chickens about six months ago now, got two gingernuts called edith and brenda.I have succumb to the want of getting a bigger brood though!I would like to get 2 ex battery girls but am worried how the first two girls will react.I have read about the problems of introducing a lone hen to an established flock but is it different when introducing two instead one?Being ex batts, will they stick up for themselves a bit more? Also, when i go on holiday, im gona leave them with my mum who has 4 in a cube, will they all get on together while im away? Thanks Phil
Space Chick
Hi Philip, you will need to manage the Introduction careful, and have separate accommodation for a while. There are some great posts on introductions in the Chicken FAQs
Egluntyne
Ex batts are feisty as they have always had to fight for their food, but at the same time, they are quite weak in the muscle dept and need building up before introducing them to fit hens. There is info on the ** BHWT** site about this.
