thebdj Posted August 19, 2009 Share Posted August 19, 2009 Hi, I have my first ever eggs in the incubator and I am getting very excited! I am new to the whole thing but have done a lot of reading and spoken to a lot of people about do's and don'ts and am pretty confident with what I am doing. My question is about infertile eggs in the incubator. I candled the eggs at 7 days and it was clear (I believe) which were developing and which were not. There were only 3 that appeared not to be doing anything (totally hollow, light shone right through and the only thing visible appeared to be the air sac). Whilst I appreciate there is little value in leaving them in the incubator, can it do any harm and is it worth whipping them out? If it does no harm then I want to leave them to be 1 million percent correct with my candling when the chicks end up hatching. I appreciate your thoughts. Lewis Posted August 19, 2009 Share Posted August 19, 2009 Welcome to the forum The only real risk is that the eggs could explode if they get infected with bacteria, but you should be able to smell them before this happens and will have time to take the eggs out.
