smokiechicken1969 Posted August 22, 2009 Share Posted August 22, 2009 Claret posted a comment in another forum about how my male aylesbury and mallard could hassle my hens to death if they get a bit fruity. does anyone know if when male ducks reach sexual maturity they will find the need to try and mate with 'something'. we have no female ducks and have no intention of getting any. do male ducks get frustrated that there are no girls around? so far they get on with the chickens great and even though there is plenty of free range room they often hang out together. the ducks have show no intention of mating with the chickens yet, but does anyone know what the signs are? polite answers only Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
miller30 Posted August 22, 2009 Share Posted August 22, 2009 Hi my male ducks started trying it on with my lady ducks when they were about 4 months old they didnt know what they were doing but yours should be fine with your chickens as you have no female ducks for them to fight over and when one of my males tries it on with a chicken he soon regrets it as the chicken wont have any of it and puts them in their place so dont worry hope this helps leanne.
