Eggquisite
Whahooo looks like Rhubster is on the mend! 24 hours after first injection he's perked up really well. 4 days of tablets and he should be back to ranging free with the others Spent all morning deep cleaning and dismantling as we were paranoid the others may get it that said, glad we did as we found a 3 mites in there so that could have been a nightmare too. So tonight the girls have a sparkling roost and they've all Had their antibiotics Anyway these chooks do pull on the heart strings at times especially being chook owners for only 3 months, seems like an age

sandyhas3chucks
Hi, glad to hear Rhubsters on the mend, but just read the other thread and am confused. Why would the vet give antibiotics for worms??????????
Eggquisite
Hi there Sandyhas3chucks Rhubs was in a pretty bad state when we took him to the vets, suddenly really struggling with his breathing. So we had panacur for worming (typical prescription from local vets I believe) & the antibiotics which I can't remember the name of. The vet said the antibiotics were likely to attack the infection quicker which was recommended due to how poorly he was. They seemed to do the trick! He now has another dose of panacur in another 6 days plus he has tablets until Thursday which we have to crush down & give with his fodd !! Again the name of I can't remember begins with a C I know that. Now we'll be implementing a strict worming procedure - but these things happen I guess
sandyhas3chucks
ah... i see that makes better sense now. I am onterested in that panacure method, seems easier and more sense than the flubenvet way! thanks for taking the time and we all hope Rhubster continus to improve!
