chickenopolis
Hi Our two girls are now 6 months old, and I don't know if they have been wormed before. How often should I worm them - they seem OK at the moment - eating, drinking, laying etc. Poo's look good (yes I do check them every day...!!). What is the best "wormer" available - Flubenvet? If so, do I buy this online or am I better off getting it from the local Vets? Any advice would be appreciated, as we are only beginners.... Thanks. sjp
Flubenvet is the only one Licensed for poultry and it's seems to be the wormer of choice on here. got mine from here http://www.bestpet.co.uk/no_cookies.asp as for when it depends on how long you've had them freeranging I've done the big girls twice since I had them in march did the youngsters at about 12 or 13 weeks about 2 weeks after I got them as they were all ready on grass

Chickaboo
In my experiance what vets charge for Flubenvet varies enormously, so its worth shopping around. One vet I asked charged £40 , but I can get exactly the same from another for just £12. Also, they make Flubenvet in different strengths. The only difference being that the lower strength (2.5%, as opposed to 5% I think) means you have to give double the quantity to the chooks, and in my experiance its easier to disguise a smaller quantity (although when mixed into weetabix it goes down a treat!)
