moochoo
Over the last couple of days my Indian game and Welsh Black fowl chicks have hatched. One of the Welsh Blacks had real trouble and took a couple of days with some minor assistance from a wet flannel. He/she has either remains of it's umbilical cord or a small herniated bowel which wouldn't be popped back inside his/her tummy. It seems to be drying out and I'm hoping it's just umbilical but it's rather red and bulbous, which suggests bowel. He/she is fit and well otherwise and good looking strong chicky. Should I do anything or let nature take it's course? Has anyone had experience of anything similar?
Egluntyne
If the bowel gets stuck, he will be in a great deal of distress. I'd see how it goes for a few days, but if it doesn't improve or worsens, I'd take action.
