Well my three chicks are doing really well I have now removed the nursery run, and the three of them are in the WIR with the 'big' girls. There were some incidents of pecking order reminders, mainly from Charlotte, who is actually one of the lower of the main flock. I guess she just enjoyed being in charge for a while. It seems to have settled down now though I think it helps that I have increased the number of feeders to three with two really big water containers too. I do have large branches over the entrance to the nursery sleeping house, just so that the chicks can get in easily but the big girls can't.

 

I am still unsure of Sunshines breeding, but, am starting to feel *fairly* confident that she is indeed a she. Her size is on a par with Sage and Onion (legbars) who I know to be girls. So, fingers crossed that I am correct.

 

All three are doing well, and I can catch them occasionally and they then let me check them over though they can complain.

 

They also fly REALLY well but I am not clipping their wings yet as I think they need to sometimes get out of the big girls way fast and so the ability it fly helps.

 

All in all, I have enjoyed the whole hatching process, I have learned a lot, I hope my children did too. However, should I get another hen go broody then its straight into a draughty cage for her
