Hi, I was thinking of using cocoa shell mulch instead of bark chippings in my Eglu run for a change, but I noticed on the back of the bag it states that the mulch is a source of theobromine (which is in chocolate) which is dangerous for dogs & cats - does anyone know if it is dangerous for chickens?

Last time I heard someone using this, they complained that the poo stuck to the chippings and was impossible to get off.

 

Have you tried Aubiose in the run? Brilliant stuff, never gets damp, nor smells

I'm sure some one on practicall poultry said it was not suitable for the same reason as dogs

I may be wrong in this but I read somewhere that it's not very sustainable either - presumably from shipping it here?
