maryeadrian
Due to a series of events I have one lonely little hen who's 21 weeks old. I think the stress of her being alone has contributed to her not laying yet. I'm getting 2 who are 15 weeks old tomorrow. My question is regarding feed. My current girl is on layer mash. There's probably too much calicum in it for the new girls, so what do I feed them? Starter? Can't find the grower mash here. Seems to be starter or layer. Or do I give all of them starter with free access to oyster shell? I'm not sure what to do! Any help or suggestions is certainly welcome. Thanks! Valkyrie
It was such a headache for me too - the littleones were always devising ways of getting to the layers. Luckily getting growers pellets wasn't a problem here, so I put them on that but still doing an odd limestone powder with the breakfast for the big girls. Lots of mealworms and cod liver oil, greens. The big ones seem happy enough - they guzzle anything, plus only they can reach the oystershell and grit at the moment. But you might have to get growers via the internet. Valkyrie
Mark, AKA Angels4 lives in the US, so he might have an idea of where to get growers from across the pond. Good luck.
