sadietoo
Ok...following on from my post about the fox getting my chickens and now laying siege to my Eglu, a friend has suggested that what we need to keep is a guinea fowl..(yeah I know this sounds expensive..the cost of those eggs keeps going up and up! ). Anyway, apparently Chickens (as we know) are useless at raising the alarm when a fox is about until it opens its mouth...guinea fowl on the other hand are apparently able to detect fox at a distance and provide an early warning system for incoming foxy nastiness...I see from previous posts that some of you keep guinea fowl...is my informant reliable? and if so in comparison to a standard chook how big are they/ how difficult to keep etc...(they sound a lot more interesting than an Electric fence!!! )
Chook n Boo Mum
I'm sure I've heard they are noisy..and not just when a fox is about...how would hey integrate & free range with a flock of louts like mine?! Sha x
