midgie
Help...? All of my 5 girls had the sniffles for a few days, but they seem to have cleared up. I was giving them garlic in their water and ACV, which seemed to have helped. However, Coco still has a snotty beak, although she seems healthy otherwise. We took her to the vets, asking for Baytril or similar, as I've seen in books/on the forum here that that might be the right treatment, but he said her breathing was fine, and there was nothing more he could do, as it was probably just a virus. We're quite rural, and I don't have much choice, vet-wise. I think this vet sees chickens as livestock, but ours are definitely pets. He also constantly tells me that my hens are too thin, regardless of breed or the fact that they are all quite young POLs (and all good, solid, birds!). Don't think he knows much about chooks, really So not sure what to do now about poor snuffly Coco...
ClaireG
Have you tried citricidal? It's great for helping with the sniffles and is available from the Omlet shop.

lozboz
I've only had my hens a few months and twice my sussex type has ahd a snotty nose, i think from getting wet in the rain. Each time i have given all my hens live bio yogurt and i find this really helps clear up the sniffles and bubbling snotty noses.
