new girls, intro's and sleeping in the trees???

Recommended Posts

Ok so this is a random one.... please bare with me

a couple of weeks ago I got 3 new girls (apologies for no photo's)

straight away 1 of the 3 bullied the other 2 terribly to the extent they weren't allowed to come out of the house and so I removed her and she joined my original 2 and after some noise a forced introduction actually worked well and the 3 get on just fine. (perhaps not advisable but I guess I was lucky! )

I then let the other 2 girls out yesterday (2 VERY flighty columbines) who after each making their escape during the day decided it would be nice to roost in the trees :shock: I managed to get them down and tucked up in bed with the help of a broom and step ladder but now I am worried about letting them out of the eglu run again.... will they get the hang of where to go or do I have two escape artists on my hands???? I have clipped the wings perhaps not well enough!!!

on the plus side I did get my first beautiful !eggwhite! yesterday!

Hi Puddleduck, my lavendar araucana roosts in the trees from time to time. The first time it happened I was sick with worry, but when Simon got up at silly o'clock (about 5am) there she was pecking around. She knew where her food supply was & thats probably all that matters. Although she hasn't gone up into the trees for a while she still tries to roost somewhere high off the ground, eg window sills, but at least we can get her down :!: I have to be honest if you can relax about it it's all rather hilarious.:lol:
