When am I likely to see eggs?

Recommended Posts

heavy soft feather breeds (like cochins) often don't come into lay till the bird is 6 months plus. You won't see eggs till next year I'm afraid (although occasionally a girl will lay her first egg around New Year, but its rarely consistent, more usually a one or two off!) and birds can start to lay in Spring at any time. The good news is your girls will be ready to go anywhen from Jan/Feb onwards but mostly girls start around March - depends on weather, their genetic make up, their health, and perhaps most importantly light levels.
