You-Beaut
Hi, I have a chicken who seems to be pulling her feathers out(around her bottom area) with vigor. The run is now covered with the feathers of various sizes. I have checked her bottom area(the best I can) and it does look a little red. All 4 of the chickens have had some feathers being pulled at some point over the last 12 months but they were around the neck area and have all stopped it now. This seems more severe. We have 1 egg being laid each day that is very thin and doesn't always have the correct colour formation. Pale with the brown at the top which is very soft almost gooey. I am not sure if this is connected or not?? The chickens live in an Eglu, I use red mite powder, they have lifeguard or Apple cider vinegar, Limestone, diamtom (have also tried use this as a louse poweder just in case) greens, live worms etc. So I am now scratching my head. Can anyone offer some suggestions etc. I can take a pic of where she is getting bald if that helps. Thanks all. Sarah xx
The Dogmother
Does she have lice or mites? The main reson for hens plucking themselves is if they have little critters on board. See this thread for information
